Problem
Some customers are reporting that antivirus software is potentially flagging the Faronics Insight product installers and some of the program files associated with the installation of Insight.
Issue
Insight has a feature that allows for the monitoring of keystrokes on a student device. Some antivirus software has recently been detecting this functionality and are starting to provide warnings about this functionality when Insight is installed or during subsequent system scans. Depending on what specific files are targeted specific functionality of the Insight software may not function, or the product may not be able to launch at all.
Resolution
Customers can submit a support ticket with Faronics when this issue occurs through our support portal (support.faronics.com) or via email to support@faronics.com. Faronics is submitting reports to antivirus vendors where false positives flagging Insight have occurred and been reported to us. However, we recommend that customers exempt both the Insight installers and the files that Insight installs on the Student, Seacher, and Insight Connector machines in their security software. Exempting these files will prevent 3rd party antivirus software from detecting and removing the files from the systems and creating disruption for end users. The following files and paths, including subdirectories, should be exempted;
Insight Student
C:\Program Files\Faronics\Insight Student
FIStudentAgent.exe
FIStudentSvc.exe
FIStudentUI.exe
STAHelper.exe
Insight Teacher
C:\Program Files\Faronics\Insight Teacher
FITeacherConsole.exe
FITeacherServer.exe
FITTeacherSvc.exe
STAHelper.exe
Mediasoup-worker.exe
Insight Connector
C:\Program Files\Faronics\Insight Connector
FIConnectorServer.exe
FIConnectorSvc.exe
Mediasoup-worker.exe
