Potential issues with Apple Software Updates

Faronics has been made aware of a change in behavior in the Apple Software updates that may impact some of our customers.

Customers running macOS Montery (12.x)  may find that devices running Deep Freeze will be updated to macOS Ventura (13.x) with the release of the latest update to macOS Ventura which was released on March 27th.

This appears to be happening due to macOS Montery seeing the upgrade to Ventura as a recommended update. This results in Deep Freeze downloading and installing the update to Ventura if the device is configured to run Apple Software Updates automatically.

If customers do not want to have systems upgraded to Ventura they should disable Apple Software Updates in the Deep Freeze configuration.
